Bottle Garden

Our environmentally conscious client required a solution for a problem area in her garden. This was a small patch in dense shade which had been neglected for several years and was very untidy to look at. She wanted a quirky feature that was eye-catching and low maintenance. We designed a shade garden consisting of retaining walls made from wine bottles, incorporating benches made from reclaimed elm. The area was then thickly planted with hostas, hellebores, spring bulbs, pulmonaria, lily-of-the-valley and dicentra, before being mulched to retain moisture and suppress weeds. The resulting garden was perfect for barbecues on hot summer afternoons
