Beech plank decking, Newcastle Emlyn, Carmarthenshire

A unique river view

Our clients had a patch of garden right by the River Teifi which they wanted to make more use of. However, the banks were steep and there was nowhere comfortable to sit.

We solved the problem by designing a little deck with a rail against which to lean and enjoy the sound of the river flowing past.

Solid poles were bedded onto the riverbank to support the structure

Stainless steel screws and tanalised timber ensure the frame can withstand the damp Welsh weather, and landscaping fabric prevents weeds coming up from underneath

The finished structure is oiled to show off the natural patterns in the beech and protect it from the weather

We use hard and softwood to make our bridges, treehouses, play areas and swings. We source our wood from a local timber yard who recently commissioned us to build them a display garden to show how we used their oak, cedar and larch.
